Rainier Veterinary Hospital Dog of the Month: June 2016 - Ozo

Dog of the Month: June 2016

We are very excited to kick off a new program at Rainier Veterinary Hospital: Dog of the Month. Each staff member provides a nomination for the distinguished honor, and then we vote. The highest vote wins! Any pup who visits us during the prior month is eligible. Our first month starts now! And the winner is …

Ozo

Rainier Veterinary Hospital Dog of the Month: June 2016 - Ozo

More than a decade ago, Jen Keosky and Elliot Smith visited a shelter in search of a new furry friend. “It was love at first sight when we walked into the very full shelter, and all of the dogs started barking except her,” Jen says of Ozo, who was just 10 months old at the time.

In fact, Ozo has clocked many miles with Jen while the owner was marathon training. But that was in her younger days. Jens says, “Now she’s happy hanging out on the couch, watching the squirrels outside.”

Rainier Veterinary Hospital Dog of the Month: June 2016 - OzoNamed after the alternative band Ozomatli, sweet Ozo has several other nicknames at home, including Borzee Beans, Beebs, and Beeby Creebs.

Ozo visited us in May for a splenectomy, a surgical procedure that removes either part or all of the spleen. Jen, Elliot, and all of us at the hospital are thrilled to report that her tumors were benign. “She is recovering quite well,” Jen says. “A big thanks to the staff at Rainier Veterinary Hospital for treating her so well.”

It was our pleasure! Keep an eye on those squirrels, Beebs!
