Rainier Veterinary Hospital Dog of the Month, April 2017: Boogie

About 10 years ago, Patrick Omura adopted a 3-year-old Shih-Tzu named Boogie from the Seattle Humane Society. Now 13 years old, Boogie is still his sweet self, but maybe a little bit more laid back. Although, Patrick says, “He really isn’t a very active dog, even when he was younger.”

Rarely does Boogie bark, and he’s a lover of all people, Patrick says. Not so much into toys, though. “He does like noodles,” Patrick says. “He likes to slurp them into his mouth.”

Patrick has been bringing Boogie into Rainier Veterinary Hospital since he adopted the pooch. “In fact, I’ve been bringing my dogs to Rainier Vet for, I would say, at least 40 years, if not longer,” Patrick says.

In September 2016, Boogie was diagnosed with kidney disease and continues to need weekly fluids. “They told me I could do it myself at home, but I’m squeamish about poking Boogie with a needle, so I take him into Rainier Vet. I live pretty close, so it’s not a hassle.”

And that means we get to see him every week, which we love! Thanks for all of your support, Patrick. So glad to have you and Boogie as part of our family.

About Our Dog of the Month Program

How our Dog of the Month program works: Each staff member provides a nomination for the distinguished honor, and then we vote. The highest vote wins! Any pup who visits us during the prior month is eligible.
