Meet Sir Tabby, a sweetheart of a kitty who was brought to Rainier Veterinary Hospital severely injured. Over the past several weeks, our staff members have been nursing him back to health. We would very much appreciate your donations to the Rainier Animal Fund, the non-profit branch of Rainier Vet that provides veterinary medicine and surgery to homeless or abused dogs and cats.

Although we’re not entirely sure, we believe that Sir Tabby was attacked by a larger animal. At first, we just medicated this sweet kitty to help with infection and pain control. Plus, we gave him lots and lots of love. After about a week, Sir Tabby was in great spirits and was eating and drinking. Soon after, our doctors—who are estimating his age to be about 10 years old—were finally able to perform surgery on Sir Tabby to treat the injuries to his hind and neck.

Last week, we took out Sir Tabby’s sutures, and he is recovering wonderfully! He’s using the litter box about 80% of the time, which is a great sign! And he takes his medications without any issues.

Danni Rohall, one of our caring veterinary assistants, is fostering Sir Tabby until he’s ready for adoption. “So far, behaviorally, he’s an absolute gem,” Danni says, although he tends to hiss at other cats and hides from dogs. But given his assumed history, we can understand.
