Sara

Veterinary Assistant

Sara became a Veterinary Assistant at Rainier Veterinary Hospital in October 2025, bringing her thoughtfulness, empathy, and commitment to helping animals to our team. Her dependable nature, organizational skills, and dedication to collaboration make her an excellent addition to our practice.

Sara was drawn to veterinary medicine from a young age, but when her life changed course, she found herself in a different field. Still, she felt drawn to animal care, which led to her volunteering with several organizations over the years. As she contributed to meaningful volunteer work, she continued to find purpose in making a positive impact and doing work that she genuinely loved, all while sharpening her skills and developing knowledge along the way.

Her volunteer journey led her to Rainier Animal Fund and then our team. Inspired by the RAF mission and the Rainier Veterinary Hospital team, Sara knew a role at our practice would be a perfect fit. She is eager to continue learning while providing excellent animal care. “I love that there’s always something new to learn,” she shared. “I also love that the doctors are happy to educate and answer all the questions I have.”

Volunteer Work

While living in New York, Sara volunteered at the ASPCA in the city, monitoring patients coming out of spay and neuter surgeries. She also worked with PuppyKitty NYC, helping with caretaking, transportation, and fostering for two years. In 2024, she moved to Seattle and became involved with Alley Cat Project, a local foster-based rescue that focuses on trap, neuter, and return(TNR). Passionate about veterinary medicine, she volunteered on the vaccination and medical team. Sara also opens her home to short-term fosters for medically complex cats.

Home Life

Outside of work and volunteering, Sara enjoys scrapbooking, antique hunting, and studying languages. She has taught herself Portuguese and is consistently working on learning other languages. Sara lives with her 5 cats, all of which, aside from one, were rescued from outside. Luna, the eldest cat, can be cranky, but also cuddly, while Doodles is sensitive and affectionate. Pickles is a food-obsessed, picky princess. Snacks is the only non-rescue. He’s nearly 18lbs but somehow still looks like a kitten. Scribble is the newest addition, who was found trapped in a park in Queens, NY, in 2023.
