Cat of the Month, August 2019: Mew

Cat of the Month, August 2019: Mew

Mew has been stealing hearts since the day he was born; Valentine’s Day 2016.

Mew, a 3-year-old Sphynx cat, found his forever home when he was just four-months old. His dad, terribly allergic to cat dander, had been seeking just the right Sphynx cat to join his family. With the perfect litter identified in San Diego, Mew’s dad pulled out all the stops to fly Mew home to Seattle.

“I was so excited to meet my new cat,” said Mew’s owner Sean. “My friend Alexis and I trekked to the cargo-station around midnight to pick him up where we were met with a tiny, crying ball of kitten attitude. He was just perfect!”

Continued Sean, “We decided to christen him with the full name of Bartholomew. Mew for short. Mew, because he looks like the Pokémon, Mew, and Bartholomew because he’s a silly little jokester; just like Bart Simpson.”

Of course, what beloved cat doesn’t end up with a host of nicknames. Mew has also been known to respond to Little Baby, Little Angel, Baaaaby and Good Boi!

“Mew is such a silly cat with a fun sense of humor and always looking for ways to play,” said Sean. “He loves his cuddles, follows you around chattering away and always greets me at the door for love and belly rubs. He is also quite social with other cats and humans and gives us no trouble at all with nail trimmings, tooth brushing and baths. Such a good-natured cat!”

Being the playful cat he is, Mew loves any squeaky toys with his favorite being a small, felt-made heart shaped doodad. He is also quite obsessed with minnow treats.

Mew recently took in a little cat “B&B” time when he was boarded at All My Kitties in Leschi while his dad traveled. Truly worked out well as Mew was able to show-off his friendly side and meet a whole new group of friends. Always the life of the party.

The Rainier Veterinary Hospital team has enjoyed watching Mew grow up and look  forward to caring for him for years to come.
