Cat of the Month, February 2017: Oreo
When you think of an Oreo cookie, you might picture black and white. But Xianglu Han’s kitty, Oreo, is actually named after the colors of the cookie combined—a silky gray. And this beautiful Russian Blue is our February Cat of the Month.
Born in August 2015, Oreo joined Xianglu’s home in October 2015 and is now a year and a half old. Like most kittens, Oreo has her spurts of play and then her quiet moments. During play, Oreo loves the infrared ray and any cat teasers. In her downtime, Oreo loves to sit and gaze out the window.
Oreo—who also answers to her Chinese name, Tuotuo—has been a patient at Rainier Veterinary Hospital for the past six months, and she’s come in for boarding. Although Oreo is a lovely guest, Xianglu says that she’s always ready to go home. “I board her when I’m on vacation, like Christmas and summer vacations,” Xianglu says. “Every time I pick her up, she really likes to stay by me. Wherever I go in the house, she follows me. It seems like she doesn’t want me to leave her again.”
Not surprisingly, because of her foodie name, Oreo is very fond of snacks. In fact, Xianglu says, “She’s crazy about snacks!” And one of Oreo’s favorite spots in the house is with Xianglu in the kitchen, where she sits or lays next to Xianglu while cooking.
“In the morning, she always comes to knock at my door, asking for breakfast,” Xianglu says. “And every time I get home, she runs down to the first floor to welcome me, no matter where in the house she is.”
How sweet—just like an Oreo! Glad to have you both as part of our family!
