Cat of the Month, June 2017: Mr. Bojangles
The song “Mr. Bojangles” by Bob Dylan is about a fun-loving guy who jumps high in the air and dances with all of his might. And so the name Mr. Bojangles is quite fitting for our June Cat of the Month, an almost 4-year-old domestic shorthair who jumps high in the air and pounces on his favorite toy: a cotton rat. “He pounces on it and slaps it around, acting as if it were real,” explains owner Roger Faustino. “Sometimes, he tires himself out from chasing his buddy around the house.”
Mr. B, as he’s occasionally called, also loves strings and cords of all times. “He goes nuts!” says Roger, who adopted Mr. Bojangles from the Seattle Humane Society in June 2016. “Though he isn’t a kitten, he still acts like one, meowing and making cute kitten-like faces.” The kitty came with the name, and Roger kept it. “It’s a unique name for a rather unique cat.”
The uniqueness of Mr. Bojangles—who also goes by Buddy and Anoemon-cat—comes in the form of his loudness. “Mr. B is pretty vocal, often calling for our attention, often letting us know where he is with his meows,” Roger says. “The only time he’s quiet is when he’s eating or is sitting next to us—or on our laps or even on our shoulders.” This sweet kitty also loves to be carried! And cuddled, especially by Roger’s mother-in-law.
In addition to being a very picky eater, Mr. Bojangles is a frequent groomer and enjoys keeping himself clean. “And if we’re near, he’ll clean us up too by licking our heads or faces,” Roger says.
Mr. Bojangles visited Rainier Veterinary Hospital recently for boarding, and he’s been a patient since Roger adopted him. “The staff at Rainier Vet is super accommodating and offer the best services and care for our loud little guy,” Roger says. “The team treat Mr. B like he’s part of their family, and that was very important for us.”
You and Mr. B are like family to us, Roger, and we’re so fortunate for that!
About Our Cat of the Month Program
