Dog of the Month: July 2016

Rainier Veterinary Hospital’s new program, Dog of the Month, is in full swing. Each staff member provides a nomination for the distinguished honor, and then we vote. The highest vote wins! Any pup who visits us during the prior month is eligible. For July 2016, it’s a double whammy …

Joe and Margo

Rainier Veterinary Hospital Dog of the Month, July 2016: Joe and MargoSarah Murphy and Jeani Pearman knew they wanted to adopt two dogs and decided to find a bonded pair who needed to stay together. After six months of contacting multiple shelters, they found this brother and sister pair at the South Pacific County Humane Society in Long Beach, Wash. “They had been living on the beach for months before being taken to the shelter, where they were for three months,” Sarah says. “Many people had shown interest, but just in Margo, and sadly, the shelter was considering splitting them up. We are so glad that we found them in time. Their bond is amazing!”

At the beginning of June, Sarah and Jeani adopted these three-year-old Great Dane mixes and brought them to Rainier Vet for a routine check-up. “I’ve been taking my pets to Rainier Vet for 12 years now,” Sarah says. “I can’t praise the staff enough for the level of care and compassion they’ve given my family over the years. It’s truly a standard to which all vet clinics should aspire.”

Favorite activities for the dynamic duo are playing at the dog park and swimming. But, more than anything, Sarah says that they just love being with each other and are genuinely happy dogs—even at the vet.

Sarah is grateful for the chance to share Joe and Margo’s story: “I hope people will see that adopting adult dogs can be an amazing and rewarding experience.”
We second that and are thrilled to have this pair as new members of the RVH family!
